Garbage Management is a subject which is much wider than Swacchata Abhiyan. While the abhiyan appears to be intended towards improving habits and mind set, more serious endeavour are reflected in Ganges cleaning drive and rural toilet scheme. Gopal Krishna Mukerjea worked on urban garbage management system much earlier, and feels garbage can be utilized in a commercial manner. There are examples where garbage can be collected using a special merry go round railway system and chain lift trucks combined with a power plant that will use all the garbage as fuel.

I am sure someone in the Government is looking at this option.
