Garbage Management is a subject which is much wider than
Swacchata Abhiyan. While the abhiyan appears to be intended towards improving
habits and mind set, more serious endeavour are reflected in Ganges cleaning
drive and rural toilet scheme. Gopal Krishna Mukerjea worked on urban garbage
management system much earlier, and feels garbage can be utilized in a
commercial manner. There are examples where garbage can be collected using a
special merry go round railway system and chain lift trucks combined with a
power plant that will use all the garbage as fuel.
I am sure someone in the Government is looking
at this option.Tuesday 31 March 2015

Gopal Krishna Mukerjea a wild life enthusiast was delighted to note the healthy increase in tiger
population. We have the largest population of tigers 70% of world population. 1411 to 2226, 57%
increase in 7 years is stupendous. Now we have a larger base to work on Project Tiger. Our country must pay a great deal of attention to its natural beauty, mountain ranges, forests from Terai to mangroves, huge coast line, great rivers, tribal culture, flora & fauna along with heritage cities and buildings.
